Vagamon is the place located in Idukki, Kerala. This place is 1200m (3900 ft) above than Sea level (msl). Vagamon is famous for its evergreen foggy climate & it makes you feel like living closer to clouds. Thrill trekking. Parasailing being done around Jan-feb.
Sometime you need give your mind / heart some refreshment to get back the energy you had or equip you for a next phase of life. I personally feels travel connect you with this world & Your world.. Travel connects the dots in your mind. JK Rowling got her very first idea about Harry potter when she was travelling in the train.
It broaden your thoughts & expands your imagination. As we know, there is huge difference between seeing a place in monitor & actually visit the place. The same way I feel it gives you more realistic feel when you ride a bike and feel the presence than watching the place from your car window. The reason I choose bike ride is, (I love my Avenger very much, that’s different!! J) you can feel the temperature, fragrance, moisture of the place and freshness of the air. It makes you feel you are actually in the spot. It lets you enjoy the smooth road & rough road. (There were sometimes, we dragged by a smell of freshly fried vada (South Indian fried food) and drove back to taste it to the core).
The joy starts from the time of preparation & planning but in most of our cases, we ride on the same of day of planning. “Unplanned trips are awesome, right”. Thought of this trip starts at Saturday breakfast! My friend and I decided to have dinner at Vagamon. We were exactly 650km away from Vagamon (rofl). We generally ride around 80kmph speed so our average speed would be 60kmph. Our break used be 100-120kms once. After a continuous ride, we could reach Dindigul (430kms from Chennai) around 10pm and we are exhausted. Chennai to Dindigul route is National highway 4 lanes, but post Dindigul roads are narrow. We decide to give rest for our self & our bike that night. In between, a guy was impressed by our itinerary & wanted to join. He was still on the way. We booked a room at Hotel Iswarya, a budget hotel with decent ambience. This is very near to bus stand and had a decent parking space.
Early morning rides are always special for me, less traffic roads, fresh oxygen-rich air & pleasant sun light. Dindigul is still a town, to get an authentic village fresh food you may need to search. We decided to have breakfast at Land of Nature “Theni” with westergatz breeze. One important note is full your tank with fuel & take enough cash at Dindigul itself Fuel stations & ATMs are limited in Theni & after Theni. Dindigul to Theni is 80kms journey, which would take 2hrs approx. There are lot of villages in-between so expect a surprise entry of bike, cycle & kids across the road. This road has few barricades to avoid over speed. Theni is the surrounded by Western Ghats mountains & nostalgias of thousand living around the villages of Theni. People of more the 50+ villages see Theni as biggest town. Even people from Kerala come here to buy cloths & electronic goods. If you see from the top, it looks like Mother Nature is peacefully sleeping with a Greenish blanket….
(more to come soon……)
